Not your normal SMART Goal Method.
Are you excited yet?
You finally have CLARITY of what you want to achieve in your business.
More clients? Great, promote your offer.
A group program? Great; now to map out who it’s for.
A membership? Oh, how fun; decide what will be included.
So you get fast to work. You start creating a sales page, you decide on some offers or hell…you might even start sales calls.
But where are you going to lead them to?
- A landing page that isn’t done yet?
- A sales page that isn’t set up to accept payments?
- A course that isn’t set up yet?
- A freebie that is yet to be completed?
See the problem with going all-in without a blueprint, without an action plan of what happens first, second, third?
This method or lack thereof will cause a lot of backtracking, a lot of going back and forth between main components constantly adjusting sales pages, course content, social media content, changing your offers, etc and then moving forward to getting the name out there only to realize that the back end of your goals is still not ready to LAUNCH.
UGH….So the never-ending feeling of failure sits in.
I mean, come on, you told yourself that this goal, this course, this membership, whatever it is was going to be, is going to be THING THAT PUTS YOUR NAME OUT THERE.
All your dreams are in this one launch. But there are so many moving parts that the idea of a launch date seems like it’s a date that will never come to be.
Are you ready for some truth?
- This back-and-forth game you’re playing is GOING TO DELAY your progress.
- It’s GOING TO DELAY your launch.
- It’s GOING TO DELAY you moving forward into launching your goals and
- It's most definitely going to OVERWHELM THE CRAP OUT OF YOU
- And, sorry to be negative Nelly here but when the overwhelm hits, it’s usually when I see people give up on their dreams.
Because it’s too freakin’ hard!!!
Here’s some more truth
Many of us online entrepreneurs struggle with our goals (yes, even those that have used SMART goals) because this methodology DOES NOT CONTAIN everything you need to launch your goals.
There is no doubt that this method works wonders in corporate environments. In environments where all the departments are working together with a common goal. But as an entrepreneur, WE ARE ALL THOSE DEPARTMENTS. The IT’s, the marketing, the service, the sales, the financials, the list goes on.
But how can we use the same approach when we don’t have the resources and departments at our beck and call and the financial injections to pay them to see it through.
Yet, another truth to send your way
Using this same approach may cause you more overwhelm or headaches than you know what to deal with.
These corporate goal-setting methods fail to include the most important aspect of achieving goals. The “how” to achieve them.
And if you ever struggled with achieving your business goals then you know what I mean.
Going into the year 2022 I would like to offer a different approach.
The W5+H approach
In my experience, this approach includes all the moving parts of the blueprint to map out your goals.
Here are the main components.
Who-Who does this goal impact?
What-What are you launching?
Where-Where will you be launching this? (In-person, online, social media, zoom, etc)
When-When would you like to achieve this?
Why-Why is this important to you and why would the end-user want to take up this offer?
And finally, the HOW.
Oh yes, that oh so important piece that we neglect to consider when setting out our goals.
